National PAS Celebrates GivingTuesday joining millions around the world participating in the global

Minneapolis, MN – 11/19/2019 – This GivingTuesday, National PAS, encourages you to join us in celebrating the success of current and past PAS Members from around the country.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 3rd, and throughout the year.

National PAS is excited to join thousands of organizations around the world to grow the awareness of our organization by engaging our students and alumni. Our goal is to raise $10,000, which will support students at the 40th Anniversary National PAS Conference in March 2020. Every year over 600 agriculture students convene to network, share ideas, and develop themselves professionally through a competitive learning environment that fosters soft skills growth and tests technical skills used daily in the agriculture industry.

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement inspiring hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. Whether it’s helping a neighbor or stranger, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes important to them. Every act of generosity counts! GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 14.2 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved.

Those who are interested in joining National PAS’s GivingTuesday initiative can visit NationalPAS.org/give. For more details about the GivingTuesday movement, visit the GivingTuesday website at GivingTuesday.org.

Seth Browe, National PAS President, says, “As we prepare to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of National PAS, we need to recognize the leaders that came before us and dedicated their time to create the countless opportunities afforded to thousands of agriculture students across our membership. Advisers, professors, and alumni alike, all play a role in our success today, and for that we are grateful – and this GivingTuesday I ask for your support in continuing to grow our organization.”

Steve Olson, National PAS Industry Relations Director, says, PAS, through its leadership and competitions, gives students what we used to call “soft skills”: communications, critical thinking and problem solving. Today, employers consider those as essential and place a premium on students with those skills. We invite PAS alumni and friends to show support for the role PAS played in your career by contributing to National PAS on GivingTuesday. For agricultural production, processing and allied companies we ask you to support National PAS today in order to fill your jobs tomorrow. For more information on how you can be involved as a financial partner or volunteer check out NationalPAS.org or email Steve@NationalPAS.org.

Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder says, "GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year. With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world."

About National PAS

For nearly forty years, PAS has been developing two and four-year college-level professional agriculture students for the workplace through participation in employment experience programs, skill-set development, network opportunities, and organizational activities.

It's one-of-a-kind national collegiate-level competition-style learning model gives students the practical and hands-on development opportunities essential for career success. Students compete at the local, state, and national levels and are guided by faculty advisors to develop the technical, professional, and soft skills required for career success within the agriculture industry.
