PART-TIME EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR and NATIONAL OFFICER COORDINATOR
NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL AGRICULTURAL STUDENT ORGANIZATION
*This is a part-time position currently, with the intent of this becoming a full-time position as revenues increase. Responsibilities will be added as the revenue for this position grows into a full-time position*
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Executive Director is the key management leader of National Professional Agricultural Student Organization. A successful leader of this organization will have a high level of professionalism, exemplary leadership skills, the ability to speak articulately and communicate the value of PAS to various audiences and stakeholders. Extensive knowledge and/or experience of non-profit operations, public speaking and financial management experience is essential. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
SUPERVISORY & LEADERSHIP
Leads and develops the elected National Officers through regular communications, strategic planning, trainings and national conference.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
STRATEGIC AND BOARD LEADERSHIP
Manage / lead/ advise / communicate all activities with the PAS Board the Board of Directors
Lead the Board of Directors in a manner that supports and guides the organizations mission, vision and strategic direction
Foster effective team work and environment with the Board of Directors and staff
Maintain a board manual and coordinate orientation of new members of the Board of directors
FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE AND OPERATIONS
Develop a comprehensive budget that maintains the fiscal integrity of National PAS and include monthly memos, budget updates, quarterly reports to the Board of Directors
Effectively lead the operations of a virtual organization; communicate proactively and frequently about projects with staff
Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board
Ensure that sound bookkeeping, and accounting procedures are followed
Create sustaining funding model and an operational plan incorporating goals and objectives that work toward the strategic direction of the organization
Conduct official correspondence and execute legal documents on behalf of the Board as appropriate and jointly with designated officers
Maintain organizational and membership records
INDUSTRY RELATIONS, COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT
Responsible for the enhancement of the organizations image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with partners and potential chapters to expand the organization
Expand and retain industry and organizational partnerships and conference sponsorships
Execute the organizations comprehensive communication plan
Serve or select the representative from PAS to service on the National Council for Agricultural Education (NCAE)
Develop annual membership materials
Collaborate with agricultural education organizations, including, but not limited to PAS Alumni and Friends, American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE), National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE), Association for Career Technical Education (ACTE), National FFA Organization, National FFA Foundation, National Young Farmer Education Association (NYFEA), National FFA Alumni, National Association of Supervisors of Agricultural Education (NASAE)
NATIONAL CONFERENCE PLANNING
Collaborate with the contracted event producer to organize the National PAS annual conference
Secure conference sponsorships, partnerships and judges for competitions
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
NATIONAL OFFICER COORDINATOR
The National Officer Coordinator provides leadership to the elected members of the National Officer team for the National Professional Agricultural Student Organization. Coordinates all aspects of training, facilitation and goal development of the officers for PAS for the duration of their terms.
Duties as National Officer Coordinator
Facilitates leadership skill development, strategic planning and goal forecasting seminars for National Officers
Responsible for coordination of national officer programs and committee involvement
Supports Executive Director in areas of sponsorship and annual donor communications and follow-up
Coordinates travel and scheduling to national meetings including FFA, NASAE, NAAE, AAAE and ACTE
Plans and coordinates travel to prospective chapters and sponsorship visits
Organizes conference calls and meetings for national officers
Assists national officers in preparation and execution of national conference responsibilities
Collaborates with Executive Director and contracted event producer to organize the National PAS annual conference
Fosters support from advisors at institutions including communication, involvement and conference details
Performs all other duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Normally requires a bachelor’s degree and previous experience with a non-profit organization.
A general understanding of workforce issues within the agriculture, forestry and natural resources industries is helpful.
Demonstrates essential abilities including professionalism, adaptability, relationship building, effective communications, creativity/innovation, teamwork, problem solving, and strategic thinking.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record/insurance and the ability to pass a criminal background check.
